Epic Vacay, Day Five: Rome, Italy 6/13/19

The port welcomed us and we took the boat's shuttle into Civitavecchia, where we hired a private driver (Marcello) to shuttle us around Rome all day.  Kudos to Marcello for being an amazing driver and not getting us killed, which certainly would have happened had we rented a car and done Rome on our own... Italian drivers are simply crazy.

First stop, the Vatican.  The wait to get in was over three hours long and it was around 85 degrees outside, so we just walked around the grounds.

Stop 2, Altare della Patria -- Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

Stop 3, the Colosseum, also with about a 3-hour wait to get inside.  Apparently we weren't the only people taking an Italian vacation this week!

Stop 4, Trevi Fountain

Stop 5, the Spanish Steps.  Sooo many people...

Stop 6, the Pantheon, a former Roman temple

Stop 7, Piazza Navona, a beautiful open space with really neat statues and atmosphere.  And some really good gelato.

Back on the ship, we saw a show called Come Fly With Me, featuring aerialists, dancers, and singing performances.  The on-board entertainment was really great!
