Memorial Day Weekend - Sunday

We tried to go for a hike but the bugs were really harassing Dennis and Jack so we bailed and headed to Omaha.  We went to the Omaha Zoo, which was amazing but it was around 100 degrees so somewhat uncomfortable!  It was all we could do to keep hydrated and finding as much shade as possible.

Pioneer Courage Park, Omaha, a monument to the westward movement of early Americans.  Impressive.

The Bob Kerrey pedestrian bridge connecting Council Bluffs, Iowa to Omaha, Nebraska

Truth be told, we walked about halfway across before caving in like a bunch of babies.  It sways a lot.

On the bridge, some people from Atlanta told us about a fireworks show later that night that was actually a free performance by the Omaha Symphony, right on the riverfront, followed by the fireworks.  WOW!!!  They were amazing and played for over an hour and a half!  What a perfect way to cap off the weekend.

I'm not sure we could have planned this trip better than how it turned out

A little cuddle before leaving for home on Monday.  We went to the Des Moines Science Museum for a few hours on the way back and were home by 8 pm.
