We had the most dreary December weather that I can recall -- something like 80% fewer days with sunshine. The first week of January, we got some sunshine but the cold was positively arctic. School got canceled for three days, not due to snow, but because they didn't want kids waiting in the sub-zero temps for their buses. We managed to get out when we could, for very short periods of time.
After a five-day stretch of being confined to the house, we finally caught a break on Sunday and headed out with some friends to a new hill within walking distance. This hill has five or six runs to go down, some easy and one near impossible. The boys tried out their new snowboards, and did pretty well! I stuck to the traditional sled, and Murphy actually went down the hill on my lap twice and loved it! Who ever heard of a sledding dog?!
