Day Out With Thomas

Today we took the boys to the annual Day Out with Thomas at the Illinois Railway Museum. What a perfect day! We finally caught a break from the heat and humidity, and there were some nice breezes. If only we weren't all suffering with nasty colds! Oh well, Dennis & I managed to get it together to make sure the kids had a nice day. The day included miniature golf, playing with all kinds of model trains, riding a real antique train, arts and craft stations, and a magician. And, of course, getting to see all the trains, streetcars and trolleys housed at the museum. Jack just loves walking around the sheds where the trains are stored in various states of repair.

Anyone who's seen this blog before has probably noticed there are very few pictures of me, but here's one with me and Jack about to check out an antique Soo Line train:

All told, we had a really good time! Jack was excited to rehash the day as we were getting ready for bed. He had his mile-wide grin on his face right before drifting off to sleep, which made me feel pretty good. We will definitely go back next summer. Jason is already getting interested in trains too, so this should be even more fun next year.

I guess all that fresh air took its toll:
