In memorium

This weekend we bade farewell to our beloved cat, Buddha. She had been sick for about a week, I think with the same problem of kidney failure that took Braces from us last May. I don't think she suffered much though...she was cuddling up with me on Friday night. I checked on her at 5:30 am on Saturday and she was lying on the floor -- nothing unusual. When we all finally got up for the day at 7:30, she was gone.

What a life though! Sixteen years and one month. She got to travel by car to Seattle and back. She had stepbrothers and stepsisters who passed before her (Spud the guinea pig, Chino the rabbit, and Braces the tomcat) and is survived by Murphy the wonderdog.

Buddha, aka Bionica (due to the steel plate in her leg), was a good cat all around. She got to see us start and complete our family. In the past three years, she endured endless chasing by the dog and tail pulling by the kids. As you can see in the attached picture, she even allowed Jason to use her tail as a teether. Until her recent illness, she only missed using her beloved litter box once, and that was after eating an entire stick of butter. Who could fault her for that?

Well, with Buddha now gone, Murphy will have to find another butt to sniff (I'm penciling in Jason).

Rest in peace, little kitty.
