Hey, how about that - two blog entries in one day! Today was really beautiful outside although a little cool. We took Jack & Jason to Elgin's Public Works Department Open House. I expected it to be a lot of fun for them and it was even better than I had hoped. Right as we entered, the boys were given these cute hard hats to wear. The hats set the perfect tone. First we saw how street signs are made, then we headed into the big garage area where there was a pile of sand for kids to move around:
Jason didn't play with the sand, but he did have his first experience with cotton candy. He was a little apprehensive with the texture of it at first, but by the look on his face, he obviously quickly grew to like it!
We saw garbage trucks, recycling trucks, snow plows, street sweepers, earth movers, cherry pickers -- more stuff than I can remember. The kids got to see and get on a lot of different types of equipment. Here Jack checks out a huge bulldozer:
And a huge grass cutter. Actually, this was the smallest of three.
The Allen boys had a great morning at the Public Works Department! Very cool!!
Later in the evening, Jack hammed it up with a funnel one of the mechanics gave him:
