Our library takes part in a terrific program that gives out limited numbers of free museum passes. We've been to a couple children's museums that we wouldn't have otherwise visited, and always had a great time. Last week I scored a pass for Cantigny Park in Winfield, not having a clue what was in store. What we found was amazing! There was a really neat war museum that featured the First Infantry and all the conflicts that it was involved in...in one room we were at Omaha Beach, in another room we were walking through the vines of Viet Nam. This is definitely not a museum you can just breeze through and see everything while having two energetic little boys who wanted to be outside to see...tanks!! probably a dozen real tanks that the kids could climb all over.
In addition to the museum, there were amazing gardens to walk through. Below, the boys walk into a cool tree that was grown to make a little house structure.
And, of course, we found a playground too. We will definitely go back sometime when we have more time to spend there.
